### Murder of Sergey Magnitsky by [[Putin]]
https://twitter.com/Billbrowder/status/1460616114015281160?t=pLhjfbL71nTraTADBWlm5w&s=19
12 years ago today, Sergei Magnitsky was murdered by the Putin regime for exposing a massive corruption scheme. The pain of his death still sits with me as intensely as the day I leaned of it. But he does have a huge legacy with the passage of the Magnitsky Act in 33 countries https://t.co/qwfOxClT8u
### "Establishment Democrats and their [[Russia]] obsession"
![[20211117_115821.jpg]]
Is knowledge of the Russian disinformation campaigns an establishment characteristic?
- Yes - but everything relating to foreign policy is almost by definition carried out by the establishment
- Whether something is part of the establishment does not make it inherently good or bad
- The establishment can be bad, but it can also be good - don't be blinded by ideological pressures
### Putino poisoned Viktor Yushchenko in 2004
To my fellow Americans now praising Putin, please remember - 1 - this is Viktor Yushchenko, poisoned with dioxin in 2004 as he ran against the pro-Russian candidate for president.

- 5/ This is one of many election sites burned down by pro-Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine in 2014. Russia has a habit of interfering in elections it doesn’t think it will win fairly. [pic.twitter.com/UilUe4lM6Q](https://twitter.com/jimsciutto/status/1496448333027680257/photo/1)
- 6/ To the party of “elections have consequences”, this is Kyiv, capital of a Ukraine that has twice-in-a-row elected president seeking closer relations with the West and more, not less, independence from Moscow [pic.twitter.com/E6vvpaOMRO](https://twitter.com/jimsciutto/status/1496450499977314304/photo/1)
- 7/ There is far more. Alexander Litvinenko, poisoned to death with radioactive polonium in a London hotel cafe by two Russian operatives, one of whom went on to serve in the Russian Duma. He’s still serving there. [pic.twitter.com/4zgFsGzgAu](https://twitter.com/jimsciutto/status/1496507002096427009/photo/1)
