# COVID in China ## Views by [[Neil Woodfine]] ### Lockdowns were unevenly enforced [[Neil Woodfine]] [Tweet](https://twitter.com/nwoodfine/status/1323154330346647555?t=nPvdJU0EjmRS-nvW7O8gtA&s=19) on [[2020-11-02]] The funny thing is, governments are universally very incompetent. The supposed strict lockdowns, mask mandates, and pervasive surveillance were/are implemented badly in China and other “model cases.” Particularly away from capital cities. Critical Thinking Tip: working with the hypothesis that the disease is not at all serious relieves you of the need for Olympic-level mental gymnastics. ### [[China]]: It is not okay to force everyone to take a vaccine [[Neil Woodfine]] [Tweet](https://twitter.com/nwoodfine/status/1381209356339920901?t=pe8893S8tvgUbxoNxSN49A&s=19) on [[2021-04-11]] Plot twist. If we’re going to start comparing, I can guarantee you that here in Asia, for the vast majority of people, things are more free, reasonable, social, and peaceful under monarchies and autocracies than the democratic tyranny of Europe.
